The Modest Research Paper
Part One: Explaining the Problem (1.5-2 pgs)
Think about a major issue in our society or the world altogether. The first part of your research paper is to prove your topic to be a problem and explain the important details around it. In other words define your topic. What is it? Where is it? How is it impacting us? What is so bad about it?

Part Two: Debunking Rational Thought (1.5-2 pgs)
After defining the problem, you must discount all major ways of correcting the problem. Look at people solutions to your situation and explain why you think these ideas are failures.

Part Three: Your Solution
Like “Modest Proposal,” create a radical solution to the problem. But you want to be convincing. It can be as far fetched as you like but you must connect it to research to make it believable. Swift suggest eating children of the poor to end poverty and showed how it would improve the situation. You just need to go a step further and find something (anything) to support your radical solution.
